Typography, a Collaborative Practice
Typography, a collaborative practice, is an anthology exploring
typography’s historical influence on cultural aesthetics. This volume aims to
position designers as co-authors, collaborators and facilitators, the puppet masters of the cultural zeitgeist. Through collaboration
and co-authorship this publication presents the unique
perspectives of my peers and the experiences that have
shaped their typographic discernment.
The essays are introduced by key typographic texts providing a contextual framework for the themes that underpin the publication. They have not been included as manifestos of strict adherence but as a reflection of the collective thinking of the past and the sentiments that have influenced designers of the present. The relationship between the past and the present has been reflected in the selection of archival imagery depicting moments of collaboration, community and connectivity. The anthology intends to expand ones practice through collective and purposeful collaboration.
